A Custodian of Trust |
A CUSTODIAN OF TRUST:
One of the main reasons for the success of the society and its
current position as a “temple of trust” for the
members, the general population of the 14 hinterland villages
and others has been the ability of the society to understand
and articulate the proper co-operative spirit. Most of this
reputation has been also built on the society’s ability
(in discrete terms and figures) to make a difference on the
ground, be it in terms of ensuring that agrarians in what is
clearly a drought-prone area manage to earn at least enough
to (eat and) smile, or be it in terms of rising up and ushering
in development initiatives into these villages for which it
is a custodian of trust. But then again, such a reputation cannot
be one without a story worth a mention. This section tries to
tell THAT story.
