i.e. Rural Debentures, in order to get transformers
and electrical connections into the 14 villages
where it is active.
The society has also provided bore well
digging rigs, free of cost, to each of the
14 villages to use these bore wells for
drinking water. However, in keeping with
its overall charter of thrift and in order
to make villagers responsible for community
equity, it has insisted that potential users
of the hand-pumps in each village contribute
towards the cost of maintenance and management
of the same.
On the health and family planning fronts,
the society has been involved with the family
welfare department to organize family planning
camps. It has also conducted eye camps and
general health checkup camps from time to
time in all the 14 villages where it is
active. To take care of the poultry, cattle
and other animals reared by its members,
the society also organizes annual health
camps for animals in each of the 14 villages
once a year.
The society has provided the bulwark of
insurance support its members through the
LIC and the General Insurance Company. In
addition it has also organized a family
welfare fund through which the family of
deceased members get significant financial
relief on the basis of a small contribution,
apart from being eligible to freely avail
of a sum of Rs. 1500 for funeral expenses,
when so ever needed. The society has also
brought in its members under the Janatha
Accidental Policy and members' group insurance
policy from which each deceased members'
family can receive Rs. 50,000 and 5,000
respectively.
On the educational front, to aid the family
members of members in their march towards
excellence, the society has organized a
special scholarship fund the purpose of
which is to support and reward top ranking
scholars of the local high schools every
year.
The above welfare serves help the members
a lot during their time of distress and
these initiatives from the society are a
proof that it cares for the members and
extends a helping hand when needed. These
services mitigate the loan burden on the
members and to a large extent ensure that
the burden is not passed on the kith and
kin.
Also the thrift accumulated over the years
is substantial and is passed on in lump
sum to the legal heir of the deceased. This
will help the family members to tide over
any immediate financial crisis.
Aligireddy Kashi Vishwanatha Reddy
Rural Development Society has been
started by Sri Praveen Reddy and is now
integral part of the MCRB&MSL’s
welfare activities. Though under the welfare
activities a scholarship is given to the
bright children of the members, a comprehensive
coverage of education couldn’t be
provided under the cooperative. The cooperative
believes that education background is necessary
for all round development of a human being
resulting in the better living conditions
of the members. In this regard, through
the A.K Vishwanatha Reddy Rural
Development Society, higher education
facilities, which were non existent in this
rural area, were made available for the
benefit of villagers in general. A junior
Collage and Degree collage are started and
job oriented courses were provided.
In line with its aim to initiate Rural
Developmental Activities, A.K Vishwanatha
Reddy Rural Development Society has taken
extensive steps to save rain water and improve
ground water trough watershed and other
related programs. The society is registered
with NABARD and District Administration.
The program is aimed to cover all 14 villages
where MCRB&MSL operates.
